Sierra View Association

Directions    

The Sierra View Sharks are a Recreational Swim Team.  The Sharks are a member of  the Pocono Summer Swim league. This is a great opportunity to have fun, get some exercise, learn new strokes, and compete against other swimmers. No organized swimming experience is required, and minimal swimming ability is required to join the team.  We can always use more swimmers, so if you are thinking about it, come give it a try!

Important Swim Team Information

This activity is open to both Sierra View, and Non-Sierra View members. There is a $50.00 annual registration fee for non-members.  

 Minimal swimming ability is required.  Your child will learn, and have fun at the same time.  Open to Boys and Girls ages 6-18.  Click here to view the Registration Form

Skill Requirements

Ages 6-11 must be able to swim across the pool (Approximately 25 yards).

Ages 12-18 must be able to swim across the pool and back (Approximately 50 yards)

Cost

Regular Season

Members - Free to Sierra View members in good standing.

Note:  Members not in good standing will not be allowed to swim for the team.

Non-members - $50.00 per child per season.

Fund Raiser

Each swimmer will be required to participate in a fund raiser for the team.  In lieu of participating in the fund raiser, the swimmer can choose to pay an amount equivalent to the minimum requirement of the fund raiser.

Donations

We will accept donations on a rotating basis for the Snack Bar for home events.  We are not fully funded by the association.  We need the Fund Raiser, and Snack Bar donations in order to fund the entire cost of the season.

Volunteerism

Swimming events require the efforts of many individuals to be successful.  Each event requires 2 Scorers, 6 Timers, and 1 Runner. Home meets also require an announcer, and 2 people to run the Snack concession.  Each swimmers parent/guardian will be required to volunteer at some events.  Based on the number of swimmers on the team, we will determine, how much time we need from each volunteer.  

Championships

Championships are run by the Pocono Summer Swim League, and subject to the costs imposed by the league. Swimming in the championships is not required by the team.  It is purely optional to each individual. Traditionally  the cost has been $3.00 per event per swimmer.

I will be holding two meetings this year for sign ups.  Attendance at one meeting is mandatory for each swimmer, and their parent or guardian.  At this meeting we will give you an overview of what the swim team is all about, and review the rules and regulations of the Sierra View Sharks swim team.  We will also discuss volunteering, and expectations for our single fundraiser.

                Even if you are not sure that you want to join, come see what it’s all about. There is no obligation to join, but I think that you’ll like what you see.  The kids have a great time, learn new strokes, and meet new friends.
